Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Rigging 1, Rigging 2, and Signalperson?
Rigging Level 1 covers fundamental rigging practices including sling selection, hardware inspection, and load weight estimation. Rigging Level 2 is more advanced and requires a Rigging 1 certification first. Signalperson certification teaches standard hand signals and verbal communication used to guide crane operators.
How long is the CCO rigging and signalperson course?
The course is typically 3–5 days depending on which certifications you are pursuing. Rigging 1 and Signalperson can often be combined in one 4-day session.
Do I need Rigging 1 before taking Rigging 2?
Yes. Candidates interested in Rigging 2 must first receive the Rigging 1 certification. Rigging 2 builds on the foundation established in the Level 1 course.
Are these rigging courses for experienced candidates only?
The courses listed on this page are for experienced candidates. If you are a beginner with no prior experience, please visit our College Services page for beginner rigging programs through River Parishes Community College.
Can I get rigging certification at my job site?
Yes. Lift Tech provides on-site CCO rigging and signalperson certification courses anywhere in the United States. Private classes are available for companies needing to certify multiple workers.
